Two dead in light aircraft crash in Ireland

Two people, including a seven-year-old boy, have died after a light aircraft crashed in County Offaly, Ireland.

The aircraft, a Cessna Caravan, crashed in bogland, Irish police said. It had been carrying a party of sixteen parachutists, all of whom jumped from the aircraft before it went down.

Two bodies were recovered from the downed plane, that of the pilot, a man, and a seven-year-old child.

The crash is currently under investigation by the Air Accident Investigation Unit.
