Topping out takes place on The Landing Hotel at London Biggin Hill Airport

Construction of London Biggin Hill Airport’s new hotel The Landing has reached a significant milestone with a topping out ceremony held on site.

This stage celebrates the building becoming watertight, and work now moving inside the new building to progress the internal fit out of the new 56-bedroom 4-star hotel.

Steven Thorne-Farrar, General Manager, The Landing, says: “The Landing hotel is nearing completion and our thanks go to the excellent construction team, Barnes Construction, Powell Dobson, Russell Doughty, and Superstructures, for delivering such a beautiful building.

“We can now move on to the next phase of fitting out the hotel, working with local suppliers and interior designers to bring our vision to life.”

Bob Steward, Joint Managing Director, Barnes Construction adds: “We are pleased with the way construction is progressing, and now the roof insulation and membrane are complete making the building watertight, work can start in earnest on the internal aspects.

“It also means we can move on to install the roof plant for building services, which includes PV panels.”

The new hotel is situated at the end of the runway, offering views over the airport from the hotel’s lounge, bar and restaurant, aptly named ‘The Approach’, which is located on the first floor.

The Landing is due to open in January 2023.
