Signature Flight Support grow Italian FBO network

Fixed Base Operations (FBOs) network Signature Flight Support has announced the addition of six FBO locations in Italy, building on its existing presence in Milan and Rome.

The Orlando-based BBA Aviation subsidiary has secured sites in Bergamo-Orio al Serio International, Catania-Fonanarossa, Florence, Naples International, Palermo’s Falcone Borsellino Airport, and Pisa International Airports.

“Signature has identified Italy as a key strategic market for business aircraft operations in Europe,” said John-Angus Smith, the company’s managing director for EMEA.

“By adapting our business model to conform to local conditions, including our joint venture with SEA Prime and our latest handler arrangements at several Italian airports, we have developed a comprehensive support network for business aircraft operators visiting major airports throughout the country.”

The six additions join Signature’s SEA Prime-affiliated facilities at Milan Linate and Malpensa Airports, as well as its site at Rome Ciampion, taking the company’s presence in Italy to nine handling stations in total.

The process to acquire the additional stations took several months, involving local partnerships being set up as well as extensive vetting undertaken by the Italian aviation authorities.

Operating permits, slot acquisition, and PPR approvals are added to the handling services portfolio coordinated from the operations at Milan Linate airport.
