Signature Flight Support FBO set to close along with its airport serving Williston

Signature Flight Support’s FBO facillity located at Sloulin Field International Airport is set to close alongside the Williston, North Dakota-serving airfield.

The airport will close on October 10, to coincide with the opening of a new airport to serve Williston, Williston Basin International Airport (XWA), which will also have its own brand new FBO.

The decommissioning of Sloulin is for a number of reasons, including expansion constraints, design issues, a significant increase in air traffic, and the need for runway refurbishment.

Construction has been underway on Williston Basin since October 2016 and it will open with an initial 7,500 ft by 150 ft runway, before accommodating a future second runway of 4,500 ft by 75 ft.

Aviation services company Overland Aviation will handle general and business aviation customers at the airport, the first full-service FBO experience for the company – although they have provided flight training and other services at Sloulin since 2011.
