Sheltair to break ground on new hangar and office complex at Tampa International Airport

Aiming to meet the growing needs of aircraft operators in the Tampa Bay Area, Sheltair Aviation has announced that it will break ground on its new hangar and office complex at the Tampa International Airport (TPA) On October 21st, 2021.

The $25-million facility is expected to be completed in the Fall of 2022. This new development will include over 77,000 square feet of hangar space and an additional 32,000 square feet of office space.

“At Sheltair, we make it a priority to invest in our communities continuously,” said Lisa Holland, President of Sheltair.

“This new construction will add 150 temporary full-time construction jobs locally and allow Sheltair to accommodate Tampa’s growing business sector, supporting a vibrant region of commerce and culture.

We’re proud to serve as a hub for business and gateway to the Tampa region, aiding the vitality of the local economy.”

Sheltair’s new hangar and office complex will provide four state-of-the-art hangars ranging from 14,562 to 33,269 square feet, each with build-to-suit office spaces ranging from 5,700 to 14,247 square feet.

All four hangars feature a 28-foot door ensuring the accommodation of large-cabin class size aircraft up to the G650 or Global 7500.

“The growth of general aviation and private aircraft operations has been one of the success stories of the past few years, even throughout the pandemic,” Tampa International Airport CEO Joe Lopano said.

“Sheltair has been a wonderful partner in serving this sector of our business and we’re thrilled to welcome this major expansion, which we know will be nothing short of spectacular when it opens next year.”
