Russian helicopter crash in Siberia kills 18

A Russian helicopter crashed in Siberia shortly after take-off on the weekend killing all eighteen passengers on board.

According to the Interstate Aviation Committee, the rotary aircraft, a Mi-8, crashed after colliding with a load carried by another helicopter that had taken off from the same helipad.

The crash occurred 1600 miles northwest of Moscow close to the Arctic Circle.

Fifteen passengers and three crew members were killed following the collision.

Russian media reported that the passengers were working for a national oil firm.
