Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport Earns NATA Safety 1st Clean Standard

Gateway Aviation Services at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport (Gateway Airport) has announced that it has earned the National Air Transportation Association’s (NATA) Safety 1st Clean Standard. The Safety 1st Clean Standard, developed by NATA’s safety committee, is an infectious disease cleaning standard instituted for Fixed Based Operators (FBOs) to provide guidance and standards for cleaning and disinfecting facilities during pandemics like COVID-19.

“While we have had similar cleaning practices in place for years, the heightened awareness and importance of strict cleaning standards due to COVID-19 guided our decision to pursue the certification. The Safety 1st Clean Standard provides our team with the necessary tools to ensure the high standards are met at all times,” said Matt Nebgen, Director of Gateway Aviation Services

Gateway Airport created a guidance book for staff to use as a reference and a Safety 1st Clean Checklist is reviewed and validated by a supervisor daily. The Safety 1st Clean standard was developed using industry expertise and best practices; and is designed to better protect General Aviation and Corporate users.

Nebgen added, “Our customers know that every time they fly into Gateway Airport, Gateway Aviation Services will provide a clean, safe environment during their visit.”
