Mitsubishi was forced to withdraw its MRJ90 jet from the Farnborough International Airshow after it sustained damage in a reported collision on the ground.

The jet was pulled out of the display line-up after an incident on the ground caused damage to the plane.

The aircraft manufacturer noted in a statement: “During push back to static parking, the aircraft was damaged by a local ground handling company’s tow vehicle.

The ground company was unaffiliated with Mitsubishi Aircraft Corp. After initial evaluation of our aircraft, we have made the decision not to participate in the flight demonstration today (July 17th).

The flight display would have been the first for the aircraft after it nears completion following significant testing since 2015.
