London Biggin Hill Airport Hotel taking shape

The new hotel at London Biggin Hill Airport, The Landing, is taking shape with the steel frame erected and the floors installed.

The general manager of The Landing Hotel, Steven Thorne-Farrar, joined Simon Severwright, surveying director of Barnes Construction, to take in the view of the runway from what will be the restaurant of the 56-bedroom 4-star boutique hotel when it is completed later this year.

The new hotel is primarily intended for crew who frequently fly in and out of the airport, as well as engineers and other employees of the numerous resident aerospace businesses based at the airport.

When finished, it will have a fitness suite, as well as a beautiful lounge, bar and restaurant.

Thorne-Farrar is delighted that construction is on course saying: “We are already seeing great interest in The Landing, and it will be a valuable addition to London Biggin Hill.

I am particularly pleased that the new hotel will enable us to continue to support the local community by providing further employment opportunities.”

Severwright added: “The construction programme is progressing well and over the next few months, building work will gain further momentum, with 20-25 personnel on site representing several trades, all working hard to get the roof and external fabric installed and completed, so the building becomes watertight.”
