Jet MS completes 7,800-landing inspection on Challenger 604

Lithuania’s Jet Maintenance Solutions (Jet MS) has joined an exclusive group of global MRO companies after completing the 7,800-landing inspection on a Bombardier Challenger 604. The company reckons only between five and ten of the model have reached the milestone.

A 48-month scheduled maintenance check was run simultaneously, Darius Saluga, Jet MS CEO, commenting: “This is a major achievement and proof of our ability to complete complex, non-standard work effectively.”

In performing the 7,800-landing inspection, Jet MS’s engineers removed the majority of the aircraft’s primary components, including engines, fuel tanks, fin, and many other parts and systems. This work alone extends far beyond that required for a regular 48- or 96-month inspection.

Extensive non-destructive test (NDT) is required under the milestone inspection, and the disassembled sections were subject to x-ray, ultrasonic, eddy current and magnetic NDT procedures. Jet MS reports that where NDT comprises perhaps 3% of a regular maintenance inspection, it accounted for almost 30% of the Challenger work.

The company worked closely with Bombardier throughout the complex NDT, coordinating with the OEM on technical issues, examining non-conformance to technical documentation and developing standards defining urgent, AOG conditions that had not been seen elsewhere in the market.

Bombardier was also instrumental in assisting Jet MS define scan parameters, and set-up and tune its NDT probes.

An EASA Part 145-certified company, Jet MS specialises in providing base and line maintenance to business aviation and regional airline customers.

Alongside the Challenger 604, it also supports the Bombardier Challenger 605 and 850, and Global 5000 and 6000 business aircraft, and CRJ100, 200 and 440 regional airliners. The company also offers expertise in Hawker Beechcraft 700, 800, 800XP, 850XP, 900XP and 750 maintenance.

Its complete offering includes express spare part delivery, cabin refurbishment and modification, engine management and aircraft conversions. It is a Rockwell Collins authorised dealer and Tronair ground support equipment authorised warranty support service centre.
