FAI Group welcomes airline specialist Peter Oncken to Executive Board

FAI Group, Germany’s largest business jet fleet operator, is pleased to announce a strategic Board appointment, effective immediately. Peter Oncken, a renowned international airline turnaround consultant has joined the Executive Board to work alongside FAI’s Group Chairman, Siegfried Axtmann and the senior management team at its Nuremberg headquarters.

Peter will bring his specialist know-how in business strategy and organization to the company, drawing on his considerable experience, including serving as managing partner of Germany’s Intro Aviation, a role he continues. (Intro Aviation has run restructuring / MBO processes of several international and regional carriers, including Ireland’s CityJet, where Peter most recently served as executive chairman. He also managed LTU, FlyNext, served as board member at DBA (formerly Deutsche BA) and invested in the ongoing South Korean low-cost carrier project, Aero K, which Intro Aviation advises exclusively).

Peter was instrumental in selling business aviation operator Fly Alpha to FAI several years ago and he has kept in touch since. “When Siegfried asked me for my advice on filling a strategic role to review the whole organization and help handle the next phase of FAI’s growth, I thought I would very much like to do this. This is an excellent opportunity to get pro-actively involved in the exciting arena that is business aviation with the leading player in Germany,” he said.

Peter will be supporting FAI’s participation at the forthcoming Corporate Jet Investor Conference in London (January 29-30th, 2018).

He brings over 15 years of experience to aviation industry, focused on strategy, restructuring and turnaround processes. A former lawyer he has built up a sound reputation successfully handling airline investments.

“FAI has grown steadily and successfully these past five years, having developed an impressive technical infrastructure in Nuremberg, including expanding the fleet by four aircraft. There is huge potential in both the air ambulance and air charter market plus opportunities for further growth which we as a group should take full advantage of. I look forward to working with the team to build on its success and help lay the foundations for further growth.”

Siegfried Axtmann added: “I am delighted to welcome Peter to the FAI Group. He brings an exciting new dimension and it is pleasing to have someone of his calibre and skillset join us. With his guidance we can steer FAI into new territories in 2018 and beyond.”
