ExecuJet MRO Services Malaysia, a Dassault Aviation Company, has received US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification to perform line and heavy maintenance on Dassault Aviation business jets.
The certification covers Falcon 2000 (LX, LXS, EX-series), Falcon 7X and Falcon 8X business jets. It means the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility at Subang Airport, in Kuala Lumpur, is audited and certified by the FAA as an approved foreign repair station to carry out maintenance work on these types of Dassault Falcon business jets that are on the US aircraft registry.
Ivan Lim, VP MRO Services Asia at ExecuJet MRO Services, says: “There are a substantial amount of US-registered business jets flying in the region and we have been receiving requests to support them. We have in the past supported US-registered Dassault Falcons relying on our engineers’ personal FAA airframe and powerplant (A&P) licenses, but it was not ideal as there are certain restrictions. The FAA certification for the facility in Malaysia means we can now fully expand our capabilities on N-registered Dassault Falcons to cover all line and heavy maintenance checks without those restrictions,” says Lim. N-registry refers to the US aircraft registry managed by the US FAA.
ExecuJet MRO Services Malaysia has worked with the US FAA for many years, because it was already certified by the FAA to perform line and heavy maintenance on N-registered Bombardier and Gulfstream business jets.
In addition, ExecuJet is able to support transient aircraft at any of the regional Asian hubs through around-the-clock aircraft-on-ground (AOG) services and Mobile Repair Party support.
The move to get FAA certification for Dassault business jets comes after Dassault Aviation’s acquisition of ExecuJet’s MRO businesses, including the Malaysian facility.
“Being a Dassault-owned MRO company is a unique proposition for operators. We have direct access to manufacturer expertise and knowledge base,” says Lim, adding that they have sent engineers and technicians for training at Dassault’s facilities in France.
“Dassault business jets is a natural area of growth for us. The presence of strong talent in Malaysia is also encouraging, and most of our technicians carry multiple licenses from two to three authorities: FAA, European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia,” he says.
