Elliott Aviation gains FAA approval for update on its Citation avionics upgrade

The FAA has approved Elliott Aviation’s supplemental type certificate (STC) for the MD302 Standby Attitude Module (SAM) as part of its avionics upgrade in the Citation Excel and XLS.

The STC allows for installation of the Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics unit in both Garmin G5000 and Honeywell Primus 1000 equipped Citation Excel and XLS aircraft.

Elliott Aviation is the leading Garmin retrofitter in the world, having carried out almost 400 Garmin G5000 and G1000/G1000 NXi installations in total.

“As leaders in the industry for the G5000 and G1000 NXi programs, we are continually pushing ourselves to find the best options for our customers,” said Mark Wilken, Vice President of Avionics Programs and Operational Logistics for Elliott Aviation.

“The MD302, or SAM, from Mid-Continent, gives operators the best and most reliable option for their standby system.”

Having received FAA approval, Elliott Aviation added that the MD302 would be available as an option in all of their future Citation Excel and XLS Garmin G5000 installations.

The instrument provides attitude, altitude, airspeed, slip, vertical trend, and heading information for the pilot during both normal operation and in the case of primary instrument failure, according to the Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics website.
