Aerion, the leader in supersonic flight, has named former Gulfstream president Bryan Moss to its board of directors. Moss has led the development of successful, top-of-the line business jets at Gulfstream and Bombardier, and has played a prominent role in advancing business aviation through his involvement in major trade organizations. “Aerion has made huge strides, forging relations with GE Aviation and Lockheed Martin, and is attracting talent from top to bottom,” remarked Aerion Executive Chairman and CEO Brian Barents. “Bryan Moss is among the most knowledgeable and most respected figures in business aviation, and brings immensely valuable experience to our board.”
Moss, who currently serves as founder and lead consultant of his own firm, Moss Consultants, LLC, was vice chairman of Gulfstream from 1995 to 2003, then president of the company and executive vice president of parent company General Dynamics through 2007, at which point he was named president emeritus of Gulfstream. He retired from Gulfstream in 2008.
Prior to joining Gulfstream, Moss was president of the Business Aircraft Division of Bombardier Aerospace Group. Early in his career, he was a sales manager at Lockheed-Georgia Company, selling various aircraft, including the world’s first certified business jet, the Lockheed JetStar.
Moss has played a leading role in introducing several new business jet models to the market. At Bombardier, he led the introduction of the world’s first ultra-long-range business jet, the Global Express, creating a new and popular business jet segment at the top of the market. At Gulfstream, he played a central role in the development of the Gulfstream G-650, which became the ultra-long-range leader and further expanded the segment.
“It’s been the greatest privilege in my career to be involved in the introduction of these successful aircraft,” said Moss. “I see the supersonic Aerion AS2 as the logical extension of business jet capability for the 21st century, and am delighted to be associated with the visionary Aerion organization.”
Moss is a former board member of the General Aviation Manufacturers Association, and has chaired the NBAA Associate Member Advisory Council. In 2007, he received the NBAA Award for Meritorious Service to Aviation “for substantial contributions to the advancement of business aviation.”
