Avfuel and FBO partner to offer sustainable aviation fuel to business jets going to NBAA-BACE

Salina FBO Avflight, in partnership with aviation fuel provider Avfuel, will provide sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to business jets passing through en route to NBAA-BACE 2019.

The Kansas-based FBO will offer the SAF from October 17, with major business jet manufacturers Embraer, Textron Aviation, and Dassault (along with other private operators) have committed to fuelling at the site.

“This will be Avfuel’s fourth product demonstration of the viability of SAF specifically in business aviation,” said Avfuel manager of alternative fuels Keith Sawyer.

“Avfuel is steadfast in our obligation to support the industry’s commitment to reduce its impact on climate change. We are thankful to all who are helping to make this SAF demonstration possible, including the Avflight team and the various operators who agreed to fueling with the product.

“We need more such willing participants in the industry to encourage production and overcome the industry’s largest SAF challenge to date: availability.”

Under their 2018 agreement, biofuel provider Gevo will supply the SAF to Avfuel.

“The recent global attention of climate change brings more public scrutiny to our industry,” added  Sawyer.

“Even though the aviation industry leads the way in taking steps to improve its efficiency and address its impact on the environment, it is not enough, we must continue to improve the efficiency of our products and operations.”
