Atlas Air Service and FTI receive authorisation for ADS-B Out retrofitting of Citation Jets

FTI Engineering Network GmbH received a “Supplemental Type Certificate” (STC) to retrofit all Cessna Citation CJs with the new transponder technology in exclusive cooperation with Atlas Air Service AG.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) prescribed the retrofitting to the air surveillance technology “Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Broadcast” (ADS-B) by 2020. Any aircraft must be actively traceable by means of GPS-based aircraft data according to the provisions of the aviation authorities.

“We now offer this ADS-B Out retrofit including EASA approval – and also FAA approval in the future – to all owners of CJ1+, CJ2+ and CJ3 Jets with ProLine 21 avionics worldwide”, states Gregor Bremer, Chief Technology Officer of Atlas Air Service. “This exclusive service at our business sites in Bremen, Paderborn and Augsburg fills us with particular pride. First client jets have already been retrofitted with this new technology.”

Moreover, Atlas Air Service also offers solutions for ADS-B out modifications for all other aircraft according to its maintenance list. This is partly implemented with manufacturer SBs or STCs by other suppliers.

Atlas Air Service AG is a family company in its second generation and has specialised in the maintenance, sale and management of Business Jets.

FTI Engineering Network GmbH was founded in 2001 and specialises in the development and manufacturing of video systems for the aviation industry for ground and in-flight surveillance within and outside the aircraft. From individual system components to evaluation software – FTI offers complete solutions from a single source to its clients.

As approved design organisation pursuant to EASA.21J, the certification of aircraft modifications forms an integral part of the FTI portfolio. FTI has been approved by the German Federal Aviation Authority as production facility for the aviation industry in accordance with DE.21G.
