Walters acquired the former Royal Air Force base at Biggin Hill in 1994, before working with his son Robert on turning it into London’s dedicated, preeminent, full-service business aviation airport and a leading centre for aviation technology and enterprise.

David Edwards, CEO of The Royal Aeronautical Society, says: “It gives me enormous pleasure for The Society to recognise Andrew and Robert Walters, two key members of the Business Aviation industry.

“Their stewardship of London Biggin Hill Airport, particularly in terms of careers, training and apprenticeships, has brought significant investment and skilled jobs into the region and their work representing the entire airport sector, especially through the pandemic, is notable.

“I look forward to their input into our Society as our newest Fellows”.

Robert Walters, Commercial Director, London Biggin Hill Airport, adds: “Decades of commitment to the aerospace sector have resulted in London Biggin Hill becoming a dedicated UK Point of Entry that is free of runway slot constraints.

“Our many initiatives and passionate team have led us to be London’s leading full-service business aviation airport and I’m humbled to have had this work recognised by the Royal Aeronautical Society.”
