Aircare International Introduces Next Generation Firesock Battery Risk Management System for Business Aircraft

The packaging and Firesock design remain largely the same as the first generation, with second generation design improvements now making the Firesock capable of withstanding internal radiant temperatures up to 2000°F.

The resealable storage tube is designed to carry 4 liters of water (cylindrical measurements are 5” in diameter and 12.5” in length) for dousing in an effort to cool thermal runaway as recommended in FAA SAFO 09013. The Firesock is designed to completely contain all of the molten material and fire that results from a battery event, while the device’s structural integrity is maintained by venting gasses as they rapidly expand during an explosion.

The Aircare Firesock® Battery Risk Management System is in use in over six global commercial carrier fleets, as well as hundreds of corporate aircraft. Distributed by Aircare Access®Assistance and available for sale in the Aircare Store, the FireSock® provides enhanced performance at the competitive price of $489 USD. This system is a proven risk mitigation tool for those who have concerns about PED’s on board their aircraft, and includes the FireSock®containment bag, heat resistant cloves and a resealable storage container.
